I wish that when every professional woman woke up in the morning, she felt confident from the jump! But unfortunately, my friend, that’s just not the case. Confidence is something we all need to work on from time to time. And that’s especially true when we are ready to level up! Therefore, if you’re conducting business every day, it’s very important to look the part so you can close the deal!
Every person’s version of looking the part is going to look different based on their industry, goals, and taste. Read on for some tips that apply to everyone, regardless of where you work!
Here are 4 things you can do to ensure you confidently look the part:
- Be prepared! Think about where you’re going and the impact that you would like to make once you arrive! Imagine yourself walking into the room. How should you look? Elegant, sophisticated, intelligent, or all of the above? Once you visualize how you should look, it will make it easier to plan your outfit.
- Invest in wardrobe basics! Plain black pants, simple white t-shirts, and dark blue jeans can feel boring, but you need them! If you don’t have these items, it’ll make it very difficult for you to get dressed for a variety of occasions and atmospheres. For example, you can quickly transition your professional work outfit to a happy hour or casual dinner look by simply changing from a traditional pencil skirt to a pair of jeans and flats.
- Hire a tailor! Nothing says you have it together like wearing clothes that fit! As grown women, we all have bodies that are unique to us. Therefore, not every pattern used by design houses is going to fit us perfectly. This is why we can be 3 sizes in one day when shopping! So use a tailor to make those special nips and tucks. I can’t tell you how much confidence you will gain when you know your clothes are fitting you correctly!
- Create a simple makeup routine! Looking the part is all about bringing your total look together. I recommend creating a natural and professional makeup routine that you can do in under 10 minutes. The first thing that people see is your face, so let them know you made an effort. And for my no-makeup ladies, no problem! Just implement a good daily skincare routine and pop your lips with a natural gloss.
