As if you couldn’t use a spa day everyday, sometimes it’s hard enough finding time to fit it into your busy schedule. Luckily, with all the products on the market nowadays, you have the option to skip dropping a pretty penny on booking a session. And with the time you’ll save on traveling to and from the day spa, you can use towards pampering yourself at home!
That’s right! Take some seriously overdue “me time” in the comfort of your own home. If you’re like me, tell the kids and the spouse that “mommy can’t get to the phone right now and is NOT taking messages” (LOL) and enter into your zen space!
You don’t even have to spend a whole day. Although, if you’ve earned it, who am I to stop you! Just a few hours can do the trick of turning off the world for a bit and just focusing on Y-O-U.
Here are my recommendations of what you can easily include throughout your at home spa day:
Run a hot shower and allow the steam to open up your pores. Using your favorite soap, work up a nice lather and clean your body until you feel anew. Next, use an exfoliant (I like sea salt or sugar) to give your skin a good gentle scrub and remove any dead skin or stubborn dirt. Lather up one more time, shave, and moisturize with your favorite body cream or lotion.
While I am the first to admit I love a professional facial, you can skip booking a session every once in a while by doing it yourself weekly. Use your favorite products for each of these steps to make your skin glow:
Time to treat your hair right after all that heat, damage, and chemicals our hair can face on any given day. Deep condition your hair with the protein or moisture it needs. I like using coconut oil or Moroccan oil to ensure my hair receives moisture.
Manicured nails are a detail that matters. Be sure to cut and shape your nails, and moisturize your cuticles. I like to finish mine off with a clear and glossy polish.
Now that you’re feeling refreshed, it’s time to reset and refocus! This is time you can spend journaling, meditating, stretching or whatever makes you think clearly. Imagine where you want to be in the future and define the goals you need to reach to get there. Remember, you can achieve anything!
Checking in with yourself by bringing the spa to you ensures that your mind is at ease. Carving time out for yourself will prevent you from burnout and make sure you are always ready to take care of business. It’s not selfish to put yourself first and spend a day or a few hours honing in on your self care.
