If you don’t follow me on social media, you probably haven’t seen that I went to London and Paris last month. It was such a much-needed trip (personally and professionally)! As an Image Consultant and Executive Style Coach, I prioritize keeping my eyes on the international streets, forecasting fashion trends, and analyzing what’s going on in the fashion industry to determine how it will impact my professional clients. Fashion is a 2.5 trillion dollar industry; therefore, I’ve always taken it and my clients seriously.
As a young professional in the 1990s, I entered Europe and immediately saw how far behind the US fashion market was compared to them. After all, Paris, Milan, and London are three out of the four fashion capitals of the world. New York is also one of them, but honestly, the US market has struggled since Covid. Therefore, it made the most sense to go to Europe to prepare for the Spring 2023 season! I needed to train my eye to ensure I stay in front of trends so I can assist my clients at the highest level possible.
Here is why I boarded a plane to Europe last month:
- To shop the market and spot emerging trends for Spring 2023.
- To sharpen my eye so I can service my Polished Clients at the highest level.
- To source new designers and retailers that ship to the United States.
- Because I’m a fashion expert, therefore I must go where the fashion is
I might be running my own company now, but nothing has changed! I still practice all the high-level forecasting, sourcing, and operations functions as I did in my corporate fashion life. I work at this caliber because my Polished Clients deserve the absolute best, and I will give it to them!
Fashion is the one thing in my life that I credit for keeping me going, regardless of what I’m going through. I have studied the industry since I was a child. So, I don’t think about my work as a job; it honestly is my hobby and passion. I know what I do gives women the confidence and power to pursue their dreams–so I must always perform at my best!
