If there is anything I try to get my clients to understand most–it’s that personal style and confidence are interconnected. It is difficult to have one without the other. Our personal style is developed by understanding our taste preferences, what looks best on us, and how to easily create outfits for any occasion. It’s all about showing up authentically, comfortable in our skin, and looking the part! Moreover, our confidence derives from not only looking the part, but knowing we ARE the PART, and using our professional image as a tool to position us for success. I have always used my image to communicate my skill set, talent, and potential. I let what I wear and how I carry myself do all the talking, and now I teach women all around the world to do the same! If you’re struggling to dress authentically and confidently–keep reading to learn why personal style and confidence go hand in hand!
When we maintain our personal bodies and grooming habits, we not only look amazing, but we feel amazing. At times, we all get run down but it’s very important to take the steps to get ourselves back together. There’s nothing worse than catching a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror looking worn out and tired. Trust me, I know from personal experience. Let me just say, my identical twin boys took me all the way DOWN. LOL (I didn’t even recognize myself). However, I knew that I didn’t like how I was feeling because I wasn’t happy with how I was taking care of myself. Now, I make sure I’m taking the time to put myself first!
Regardless if we want to admit it or not, our appearance says a lot about us and makes an impression. Organizations want professionals to represent them well. It’s important that when executives walk into a room, their presence screams “I’m the boss”. Not in an intimidating way–but a powerful and respectful way. At any given time, 75% of our bodies are covered in clothing, so our appearance is the biggest communication tool we have. Therefore, make it count!
When you show up confidently knowing you are looking the part, you begin to operate in pure excellence because you know you are representing yourself as your best. We’ve all heard the quote, “When you look good, you feel good!” Well, I couldn’t agree more. On my worst days, the first thing I make myself do is GET DRESSED! I immediately feel good about myself and feel more productive when I know my image is representing me well.
In order to have our personal style and confidence go hand in hand–our image and style need to align with who we are and what we want to achieve. You need to think about the messages you want to send and how you want others to perceive you. I know that I want to be taken seriously in my field and I want to be heard. Therefore, I need to get up and dress like it! You can too! Getting your image and style together doesn’t need to be stressful. Now is your time to start showing up exactly as you should and deserve, and start feeling truly confident!
