I’m sure you’ve said this before: “I have nothing to wear.” Even with a closet full of clothes and brand new pieces–it can be challenging to put together outfits that look and feel great. The main reason why you feel like you don’t have anything to wear is because your wardrobe doesn’t serve you! Your clothes may not fit anymore or they don’t align with your lifestyle and taste preferences. That’s why I ALWAYS preach that your wardrobe must align with who you are or are becoming, and should be equipped with basics. So, keep reading to learn what to do when you have nothing to wear!
Basics are essential for every closet. In addition, they can be worn over and over again and pull any look together. Basic pieces include jeans, black pants, t-shirts, sweaters, and blazers. You’ll also need them in neutral colors such as black, white, beige, gray, brown, and navy blue. Having these in your closet will make it so much easier to get dressed and you won’t think twice about what to throw on.
Using updated accessories can help make old outfits look new! If you have clothes that you’ve held onto for years and outfits you’ve worn multiple times–incorporating new accessories will elevate and update your look! Try adding a new belt, pair of shoes, or earrings to an old look and you’ll instantly feel transformed. I love doing this because it’s simple yet very effective!
Clear the clutter so you see the good stuff! It’s time to get rid of the items that don’t suit your lifestyle and taste preferences. Therefore, you need to take the time to go through what you want to keep and need to get rid of. What is the point of having clothes in your closet you know you’re not going to wear? It makes getting dressed stressful and time consuming. I edit my wardrobe at least twice a year to keep up with trends and reevaluate where I am in life.
If you’ve recently or are currently going through a transition in your life or career–more than likely your image and style needs to change as well. If you got a new job–you will need clothes that are appropriate for your role and dress you for success! Moreover, if you’re a new mom, you need clothes that are going to help you feel comfortable and empowered. Our style needs to evolve as we do in life.
All of these things are necessary for you to stop feeling like you have nothing to wear. Your closet is a reflection of who you are and a space where you are able to express yourself and feel confident. I believe you should dress the way you deserve! Your image and style should be used for positioning you for success and letting others know you should be taken seriously.
