Lover of fashion, passionate about personal image, and former fashion executive now dedicated to assisting professional women level up!
How to get more out of your wardrobe without sacrificing your personal style.
Let me ask you something. How many black blazers do you have hanging in your closet?
And how often do you actually wear them?
If you’re like many of the professional women I work with, you probably own at least one. You may even have a few. But chances are, you’re wearing them the same way every time.
Here’s what I want you to understand. Having great personal style isn’t about constantly buying new clothes. It’s about knowing how to make the clothes you own work for you.
One of the things I teach my clients is to look at their wardrobes differently. Instead of thinking about individual pieces, I want them to see the possibilities.
And a great black blazer is the perfect example.
A black blazer is one of those classic wardrobe essentials that can serve you for years. But that doesn’t mean every black blazer belongs in your closet.
The secret is finding the right one for YOU.
Your body shape, proportions, personal style, and lifestyle should all play a role in selecting the right silhouette.
Maybe you love a beautifully tailored blazer that defines your waist and creates a strong shoulder. Maybe you prefer something relaxed and oversized. Neither is right or wrong.
The right blazer is the one that makes you feel confident, powerful, and completely yourself.
For today’s style inspiration, I’ve selected a beautifully tailored, double-breasted black blazer with a defined waist. I love its structure because it creates a polished silhouette while allowing me to style it for different occasions.
Now, let me show you four ways to wear it.

Classic, polished, and ready for business.
For an office day, I’ve paired the black blazer with a cream turtleneck, camel wide-leg trousers, black pumps, and a structured tote.
This is a beautiful example of how classic pieces can work together without looking boring.
The tailored blazer creates structure, while the wide-leg trousers bring movement and balance to the outfit. The cream turtleneck softens the look, and the gold accessories add a little personality.
What I especially love about this combination is that it looks intentional without looking like you’re trying too hard.
My Polished Tip: Pay attention to proportions. When wearing wide-leg trousers, a blazer that defines your waist can help create a beautiful, balanced silhouette.
A little sexy, a little sophisticated, and still completely polished.
Who says your black blazer is only for business?
For date night, I’ve paired it with a beautiful animal-print maxi dress, tall black boots, gold earrings, and a black clutch.
Now we have an entirely different look!
The animal print adds personality and visual interest, while the tailored blazer provides structure. It’s a great combination of classic and expressive style.
And this is exactly what I mean when I talk about developing confident individual style.
You don’t have to choose between looking sophisticated and showing your personality. You can absolutely do both.
My Polished Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix classic wardrobe essentials with statement pieces you love. The contrast is often what makes an outfit interesting.
Comfortable, modern, and pulled together.
Business casual can be tricky, especially when you’re trying to find that balance between looking professional and feeling comfortable.
For this look, I’ve paired the black blazer with a cream turtleneck, burgundy wide-leg trousers, coordinating ankle boots, a beautiful handbag, and statement earrings.
I love the richness of the burgundy against the black. It’s sophisticated, modern, and a beautiful way to incorporate color into your wardrobe.
Notice that we’re using the same cream turtleneck from the first look.
That’s intentional.
When you’re building a functional wardrobe, you want pieces that work together in multiple combinations.
My Polished Tip: Build your wardrobe around a color palette that complements your natural coloring and personal style. When your colors work together, creating outfits becomes so much easier.
Relaxed, stylish, and effortlessly chic.
Now let’s take that same black blazer and dress it down a little.
I’ve paired it with a fitted striped top, wide-leg jeans, black slingback heels, a beautiful leather handbag, and classic accessories.
This is one of my favorite ways to style a black blazer because it proves that looking polished doesn’t mean you have to be dressed up.
The jeans create a relaxed foundation, while the blazer elevates the entire outfit.
And those accessories? They’re the finishing touches that communicate your personal style.
Whether you’re meeting a colleague for coffee, having lunch with a friend, or heading out for a casual appointment, this look works beautifully.
My Polished Tip: When combining casual and tailored pieces, pay attention to fit, fabric, and finishing details. Those are the things that make a casual outfit look intentional.
Now that you’ve seen four completely different outfits using the same black blazer, I want you to think about something.
How many ways can you wear the pieces already hanging in your closet?
This is one of the questions I encourage my clients to ask before making a purchase.
Because when you’re building a wardrobe, you shouldn’t just be asking yourself, “Do I love this?”
You should also be asking, “How many ways will I actually wear this?”
Think about your lifestyle.
Where are you going? What are you doing? How do you want to present yourself? And most importantly, does this piece work with the clothes you already own?
A beautiful blazer that only works with one outfit may not be the best investment for you.
But a blazer that works for the office, a dinner date, a business casual event, and a weekend coffee meeting?
Now we’re talking!
This is how you begin building a wardrobe that is functional, versatile, and uniquely yours.
After years of working with professional women, I’ve learned that many women don’t struggle with style because they lack beautiful clothes.
They struggle because they haven’t learned how to select, coordinate, and style pieces that work for their bodies, lifestyles, and personal preferences.
And when life changes, whether it’s a career advancement, body transition, relocation, or simply entering a new chapter, the wardrobe that once worked may no longer feel right.
But here’s the good news.
You can absolutely have a wardrobe you love and feel amazing getting dressed every morning.
You just need to understand what works for YOU.
That’s exactly what I teach my clients through the Polished ID™ Method. We take a strategic approach to personal style so you can confidently select the right pieces, create outfits you love, and develop a wardrobe that supports your life.
Because you deserve to walk into your closet and feel excited about the possibilities.
