Lover of fashion, passionate about personal image, and former fashion executive now dedicated to assisting professional women level up!
Let me just start by saying this: is that my entire face of makeup on that napkin? Lord have mercy.
This summer heat has been next level. One minute it’s raining, the next it’s 98 degrees and your lashes are lifting before you make it to your 10 AM meeting. All I know is this: global warming is real, and this weather has been spiratic, unpredictable, and not at all here for your cute outfit.
But you know what? I’m determined not to let the heat kill my vibe or my looks this summer. I’m rolling with it, and I want you to as well.
Whether you’re running to meetings, juggling hybrid work, or showing up at a networking event with exactly three minutes to spare, here are five Polished strategies to help you stay cool, confident, and put together this season. (If you need summer work outfit ideas, click HERE)

Your clothes should be working with you, not against you. In the summer, natural breathable fabrics are your secret weapon. Think cotton poplin, linen blends, and silk.
They allow airflow, which keeps you cool and looking crisp.
Stylist Tip: Avoid polyesters as much as possible. They trap heat and can cling in all the wrong places.
I get it, black is classic, but under a July sun? It’s not your best friend. Lighter tones reflect the heat and look fresh without trying too hard.
Try soft neutrals or rich summer-friendly alternatives like chocolate brown, dove gray, muted olive, or dusty rose.
Stylist Tip: These tones still say “serious professional,” but they also say “I know what season it is.”
In the heat, accessories are everything. They finish the look without weighing you down. Think lightweight jewelry and breathable open-toe heels.
Stylist Tip: Use accessories to bring the attention up, like bold earrings or layered pendant necklaces. They shift the visual focus from your mid-section and hips.
You don’t need a full glam beat in 95 degrees. What you do need is a summer-ready makeup look that holds up and still makes you feel like the woman you are.
My go-to? Concealer, lightweight tinted moisturizer, powder, blush, setting spray (my saving grace right now), and a natural tone lip gloss for a pop.
Stylist Tip: Keep blotting papers, a mini powder, and a travel fan in your tote. If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready!
Looking polished in the summer isn’t about perfection. It’s about preparation.
Your style doesn’t have to melt away just because the temperature’s rising. When you’re intentional with your wardrobe, your grooming, and your energy, you’ll show up looking like the leader you are.
