I know I’m not alone when I say, “Staying at home during Covid ruined my style!” Before Covid, I had gotten my mojo back. After my battle with cancer, I was living my best social life running in the streets of DC, NY, and San Francisco! One thing I love is to be out and about, feeling and looking good wherever I am.
Unfortunately, somethings changed for me during Covid. I’m not sure if it was the Zoom calls or the many days at a time that I stayed in sweats or loungewear. But as the world began to reopen, I hated the thought of getting fully dressed! I also struggled with what to wear and how to dress my body. I started to think it was some type of depression and anxiety about all that had happened during Covid, and returning to the real world.
However, I decided I was not about to let any type of depression or anxiety steal my joy! It was time for me to get dressed so I could get back to business. So first, I had to admit that “STAYING AT HOME RUINED MY STYLE.” Yep, it even happens to the professionals! So for the past year, I’ve been on a mission to reclaim my style, knowing that during Covid, I’ve changed and my lifestyle has changed. Therefore, I needed to take myself back through The Polished Method to define and refine my new updated style and image!
If you feel lost and like staying home ruined your style, follow these steps below:
POLISHED METHOD™
DEFINE your current needs and examine your wardrobe needs based on your current lifestyle and social activities.
REFINE your wardrobe needs based on your desired public image, current body and natural coloring. Envision you as your best self, and embrace your body as it is today! Commit to looking good while going up and down the scale. Highlight your assets with the right colors and details that make you come alive. Life is too short to just feel blah!
EDIT items out of your wardrobe that no longer fit, are no longer in style, or no longer serve you. Take time to evaluate each piece, especially the items that sill have tags on them. Women spend so much unnecessary time in the morning, looking at item they will never wear. Clear the clutter so you can see the good stuff.
UPDATE your wardrobe with some current fashion items, but make sure you do not forget about the basics! Basic items without the bells and whistles are the glue to every Polished outfit. (Basic examples: black slack, black pencil skirt, black turtle neck, etc.)
CREATE outfits based on your social activities with your existing, and new wardrobe items.
